Provincial Reaction To Resolute Announcement

Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell says the Resolute Forest Products announcement that it will be stopping operations in Fort Frances is devastating.
The move to shut down the last running paper machine will impact 150-workers.
Campbell says her concerns are with the workers and their families.
She says the Resolute job loss issue is now her top priority.
There’s been a quick response from the province over Resolute’s shut down decision in Fort Frances.
In a joint statement, Natural Resources Minister David Orazietti, and Northern Development and Mines Minister Michael Gravelle stated they’ll be taking action to provide the necessary support to assist those affected.
They say they’re actively engaged in developing a full assessment of the impact and are examining what options are available.
They add they’ll continue to work with the forestry sector to restore competitiveness and seek new economic opportunities.
