Public and Catholic Board’s Becoming a lot Bigger

If you think the Keewatin-Patricia School District is big geographically now, just wait until September 1st.
The Provincial Government has announced that the Board will be responsible for Elementary Schools in Upsala, Pickle Lake and Savant Lake.
Director of Education Larry Hope believes its a positive move for staff and students in those schools considering the Public Board can offer a number of services and programs.
Hope says the Board is still waiting to hear from the Province on how the funding model will work.
Catholic Schools in our area will undergo change under the Provincial Government’s amalgamation plan.
The Atikokan Catholic School Board will be under the guidance of the Northwest District Catholic School Board effective September first.
The Kenora Catholic and Thunder Bay based french language Catholic Board will welcome the Red Lake Catholic Board into the mix as well.
