The Ghost Lake Trail area is one of the key topics of discussion as the Ministry of Natural Resources and Domtar develop a revamped Forest Management Plan for the Wabigoon Forest.
An information session was held in Dryden yesterday, where folks were able to chime in on proposed areas for harvest and road locations.
Penny Rathushniak of Domtar says feedback has been great so far.
She says the Ghost Lake Trail area is highly used but there is eligible wood for harvesting.
Rathushniak adds they are looking at proposed road locations, but they haven’t really changed much from the first five-year-term.
She notes there are a few new roads but they are proposed to access wood or future wood.
Rathushniak says this plan will go from 2014 to 2018.
The tentative scheduled date for submission of the draft plan is June 12th and more public input is being accepted.
Another session is being held today at the North Woods Motor Inn in Ignace from 2:00-7:00.
