Public School Board Balances the Budget

Trustees with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board have approved the 2009-2010 budget.
Total expenditures will come in at about $96.7-million, which is an increase of about $7-million over last year.
Superintendent of Business Dean Carrie says the budget doesn’t take into account the merger of schools in Pickle Lake, Savant Lake and Hudson.
Carrie says the biggest reason for the increase in their budget this year is the construction of a new elementary school in Dryden.
He adds that due to a projected drop in enrollment next year, they had to cut about $900,000 in spending from the budget to ensure that it was balanced.
