The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is working to make local playgrounds a safer and more inviting area for students.
The board is expanding its Playground Activity Leaders in Schools program, or PALS to all of its elementary schools.
Matt Lawrence is heading up the initiative and says right now he’s going to each elementary school, training student volunteers.
Lawrence says he plans to train roughly 100, Grade 5 and 6 students in leadership skills.
The Northwestern Health Unit is also involved in the initiative.
