Public School Board Looking At Enrolment Numbers

Student numbers are down again at the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board.
As of last week, there were just over 4,900 students in public elementary and secondary schools, which is 74-less than projected back in the spring.
Superintendent of Business Dean Carrie suggests the numbers could change again before the school year is out.
Carrie says they aren’t exactly sure why their numbers are down.
Director of Education Sean Monteith suggests some of their aboriginal students may have left their system and went back to their home communities to attend school.
Carrie notes it’s unlikely the decline in enrolment will have much of an impact on their budget this year.
