Public School Board Not Expecting Major Disruptions

There will be some sort of job action at elementary schools in the Keewatin-Patricia School District.

However, Director of Education Sean Monteith says schools will remain open and teachers have committed to continue extra curricular activities, sports and field trips.

Monteith says talks here at home have been positive, respectful and show the strong relationship they have with their elementary teachers.

Monteith notes says he can’t think of one issue on the local level that would cause job action.

He expects teachers to refrain from attending meetings and overseeing EQAO testing starting next week.

Monteith says the difficulties right now lie between the provincial union and the Ministry of Education.
