Push Made To Encourage First Nations Participation On Monday

The Matawa Chiefs Council is urging First Nations communities to vote in the upcoming federal election.

Member chiefs have sent letters to candidates in Northwestern Ontario ridings requesting their responses to aboriginal issues.

Those responses will now be given to members of area communities.

Eabametoon Chief Elizabeth Atlookan admits some in her community have told her why do I bother to vote if nothing ever changes.

Atlookan says they are frustrated that their concerns aren’t being heard and it’s time for the next government to truly listen to the voice of First Nations.
