Quebec Ruling Goes Against Government

A Quebec court has ruled sections pertaining to the Status in the Indian Act continue to be discriminatory towards native women.

The ruling stems from two different cases brought forward by separate First Nations communities in Quebec.

The court has given the federal government 18 months to made the appropriate re-writes.

The government hasn’t indicated yet if it will appeal.
