Rain Helps Fire Crews Near Shabaqua

A forest fire near Shabaqua is still listed as not under control.

The blaze, about seven kilometres north of the Highway 11/17 junction, is around 50 hectares in size.

Crews have been able to make great progress on the fire thanks to recent rainfall.

The blaze forced the closure of the Trans-Canada Highway for several hours Wednesday.

The fire hazard is low across the Northwest Region.
