January is Alzheimer’s awareness month.
Women represent 72 % of Canadians living with Alzheimer’s disease.
That’s why the Alzheimer’s Society of Kenora/Rainy River have named their national wide campaign ’72 per cent.’
Client Services Coordinator Nicole Pell says there are more women with Alzheimer’s than men because they outlive men and age is a huge risk factor.
Pell says the society is hosting an awareness presentation at the Dryden Public Library on Wednesday, January 28th from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
She says the presentation will help people learn more about the warning signs and how to reduce their risk.
Pell adds there will also be a virtual dementia tour at the Comfort Inn in Dryden on Thursday, January 29th from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
