A proud moment for Northwestern Ontario and the Nishnawbe Aski Nation.
The 100th Anniversary of Treaty 9 was celebrated Tuesday morning in Osnaburgh
Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Natural Resources David Ramsay
was in attendance and says the moment reinforces the need to work with
Northern First Nations.
Ramsay says he is excited about his new post and is anxious to enhance
the Governments relationship with Northern First Nations
49 First Nations from across Nortwestern Ontario fall under the Treaty that was signed on July 12th, 1905
Ramsay says the signing of the James Bay Treaty was a huge
accomplishment of the day and it deserves to be celebrated.
