RCMP Recover Bodies Believed to be BC Killers

RCMP say they have recovered two male bodies in dense bush and believe they are two murder suspects from British Columbia.

Police say the bodies were found near the shoreline of the Nelson River.

19-year-old Kam McLeod and 18-year-old Bryer Schmegelsky had been the subjects of a manhunt in western Canada.

They were wanted in relation to the homicides of tourists Lucas Fowler and Chynna Deese as well as UBC Professor Leonard Dyck.

An autopsy is being scheduled in Winnipeg to confirm their identities and to determine their cause of death.

RCMP say that the search led to the Nelson River area on Friday since they found an item directly linked to the suspects in that area,

After finding the item the police narrowed down their search and utilized specialized teams to look in high-probability areas.

The RCMP thanks many of the surrounding communities for their support including Gillam, Fox Lake Cree Nation, Ilford War Lake First Nation and York Landing.
