Ontario Forestry Minister Michael Gravelle is supporting a new agreement to halt logging in 29-million hectares of Northern Forest.
The agreement was inked Tuesday between Canada’s top Pulp and Paper producers, environmental groups and various levels of Government.
Gravelle says he hasn’t seen the exact details, but it looks to be a positive move.
Meantime, AbitibiBowater doesn’t expect big changes following an agreement to halt logging in the far north.
Officials with the Fort Frances Mill say most of the fibre for their facility is from areas outside the boreal forest.
The company says the deal is a good one and doesn’t have a major impact on their operations.
