The Red Lake Land Ambulance Base will now be staffed 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.
The around the clock service is because of increased call volume due to a spike in economic activity in the area.
Kenora District Services Board Spokesperson Peter Marshall says the Board was able to find the additional money to fund the program.
Marshall says there was a time when the service was staffed with on-call employees which delayed access to patients.
In a 5-year period the call volume at the Red Lake base has increased from 658 to 1,142 calls per year.
