Red Lake Heritage Gets Big Bucks

The Red Lake Regional Heritage Centre will receive about a half million dollars toward new attractions and improvements.

The Red Lake Centre is among three Northern Ontario attractions to recieve money from the Federal Government as part of joint Federal and Provincial stimulus funding announced earlier this year.

The Red Lake centre, along with Science North in Sudbury and the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre in Sault Ste Marie will collaborate to produce a new visitor attraction for each venue. These new attractions are set to open in 2011.

Approximately $500,000 will be invested on the Red Lake portion of the project, and will include media production work, new equipment and programming and installation work.
The new Red Lake experiences will feature an HD video about the historical impact the Norseman floatplane has had on the community.

MP Greg Rickford was on hand to make the funding announcement in Red Lake on Tuesday.
