Red Lake Holds On To Beat Ice Dogs

Morgan Venne couldn’t have asked for a better SIJHL debut.

The newly acquired forward from Saskatoon scored and added three assists to lead the Red Lake Miners to a 4-3 win over visiting Dryden GM Saturday night.

Red Lake opened with a 3-1 lead before the Ice Dogs stormed back to tie it.

However, veteran Michael Di Lullo iced the game with a score late in the second period.

Sean Gula and Spencer Milne also found the back of the net.

Cameron Coutre scored twice for Dryden GM, one on a penalty shot.

Curtis Magas added a single.

In other action, Fort Frances outlasted Thief River Falls 6-4, while Thunder Bay thumped Minnesota 14-1.
