Red Lake Mayor Reacts To MPAC Numbers

The Mayor of Red Lake is commenting on the increase in property assessment values.
The Municipality Property Assessment Corporation released that values have increased by almost 8 percent in the community.
Phil Vinet says the numbers just keep getting higher and higher.
The last four year increase from 2012 was closer to 40 percent, and from 2012 to 2016, it’s going to be another 30 percent.
Vinet says hopefully they will be in a position to lower a tax rate so that the combo of the MPAC assessment with the decreased rate will negate any significant increase.
