Red Lake Moves Into First Place Tie

The Red Lake Miners have moved into a tie for first place in the Superior International Junior Hockey League standings.

Morgan Venne, Sean Gula and Ethan Stuckless staked Red Lake to a 3-0 leading before holding off the Dryden GM Ice Dogs 3-2 in Cochenour Saturday night.

Justin Pitari and Stephen Minichiello scored power-play goals for the Ice Dogs.

Dryden GM outshot Red Lake 32-21, with Samuel Gendron earning the victory and Jacob Anthony suffering the loss.

The Miners are now tied with Thunder Bay with 59-points.

The Ice Dogs are winless in their last seven.
