Balmertown’s own Eric Radford is coming home!
The Olympic silver medallist is set to arrive at the Red Lake Airport at 12:50 Thursday afternoon.
Debra Geary is Radford’s former figure skating coach and says they hoping to give him a hero’s welcome.
Geary notes they have a number of events planned Thursday and Friday.
Radford will be visiting local schools and will also be hosting a private function with the Balmertown Figure Skating Club.
A meet-and-greet social will be held Friday night at the Royal Canadian Legion starting at 8 o’clock with speeches scheduled to start at 9.
Radford and partner Meagan Duhamel have sparked a new level of interest in figure skating in Red Lake as 99-kids are now enrolled in the program.

12:50pm-The community is invited to a surprise welcome greeting at the Red Lake Airport. Please bring signs and banners congratulating Eric on his Olympic performance.
1:35pm-Golden Learning Centre visit.
3:00pm-Goldcorp visit.
Friday February 28th
8:30am-Red Lake District High School visit.
9:45am-Red Lake Madsen Public School.
11:30am-St. John’s visit.
4:30-6:20pm-Skate with Balmertown Figure Skaters *Closed event.
8:00-10:30pm-Come and Go adult social at the Legion lounge.
