A new team has been elected to head the Ontario labour movement and it has a Red Lake flavour to it.
Nancy Hutchinson of the United Steelworkers Union has been elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Ontario Federation of Labour.
OFL President Sid Ryan, who was re-elected, says Hutchinson was the first woman ever to be employed at the Dickenson Mines, which later became the Red Lake Goldcorp Gold Mine.
Ryan calls her a renowned health and safety activist and a trailblazer who has never stopped fighting for workers’ rights.
