As the covid landscape continues to change, so do the regional hospitals’ policies.
Jennifer Wintermans is the Covid Lead and VP of Quality and Corporate Affairs at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC), she detailed that there will no longer be active Covid screening at the hospital entrances. Instead, there will be new signage for passive screening. The hope is that when people are walking through various parts of the hospital they will read the new signs and think if they have symptoms and if so they will make the choice to not expose others to them.
While there won’t be screening anymore, masks will still be mandatory for everyone in the hospital. All employees, patients, visitors, paramedics and more will all be required to wear a mask inside the building. The only exception to not wearing a mask would be to eat or drink.
The changes came into effect on April 1, 2023.
