Regional Reaction To Back To Work Legislation

A regional spokesperson for the public high school teachers union in northwestern Ontario isn’t surprised the Wynne government is going to force striking teachers in Ontario back to work through legislation.

Paul Caccamo says it’s all the fault of the province’s new two tiered bargaining system that he believes clearly doesn’t work and makes a negotiated settlement impossible.

Caccamo says he saw the move coming but notes it now means a negotiated settlement in the dispute will remain elusive.

The legislation affects striking teachers in southern Ontario and in Sudbury.
