Labour Minister Patty Hajdu is standing up for Chrystia Freeland after the Foreign Affairs Minister was trashed by U.S. President Trump when he said he didn’t like Canada’s chief negotiator at the trade talks.
Trump also said he doesn’t like the way Canada’s team is negotiating.
Hajdu is joining her cabinet colleagues in supporting the Canada’s negotiators at the trade talks in Washington DC.
She suggested to Acadia Broadcasting’s John Ongaro that it’s just part of the process, and Freeland was right when she said months ago, that there will be moments of “high drama” in the talks.
The Thunder Bay-Superior North MP believes Trump “has a specific style of negotiation and communication, but it doesn’t necessarily reflect all of (his) administration.”
Hajdu has repeated the government’s position they will negotiate a trade deal that’s good for Canada.
