The unofficial totals are in – Relay for Life events held in three area communities raised over 225 thousand dollars this weekend.
Relay teams didn’t let Friday nights rain and Thunder storms slow them down. As of Saturday morning, the Dryden Relay reported 57 thousand dollars in the bank, Sioux Lookout’s 17 teams raised 58 thousand and the Red Lake event raised a staggering 111 thousand dollars.
The three events have been held on the same night for the past couple of years, with CKDR playing an all-night ‘music marathon’ and broadcasting ‘on location’ from all three communities.
A special note – a team of grade 4 students in Red Lake, the “Fantastic Fours,” raised over 9 thousand dollars.
