The Provincial Government has advised the Town of Pickle Lake that the
issue of policing costs will be resolved by November’s Municipal elections.
The Township has the highest rate for policing in Ontario at over
$2,100 per household.
Mayor Roy Hoffman says the formula has created fiancial hardships for
the Community and needs to be addressed.
The Town is served by 7-OPP officiers.
Hoffman says the assurance of a break in policing costs recently came
from Finance Minister Greg Sorbara.
