Education Minister Kathleen Wynne says she’s pleased Ontario’s public elementary school teachers have accepted a 4-year deal with wage increases totaling 10.4%.
Elementary Teachers’ Federation president David Clegg has suggested his members have always been treated worse than their high school counterparts because most of them are women.
But Wynne dismisses the criticism.
Wynne says the chances of local teachers’ strikes have been greatly reduced now that the union has accepted the provincial framework agreement which will take their top pay to over $92,000.
