Remote Police Detachment Still Operating

The remote Northern First Nation of Kashechewan is maintaining its
Nishinawbe-Aski police service detachment.
Both levels of Government are negotiating with NAN officials over
funding for the police force.
Grand Chief Stan Beardy says the discussions are proceeding positively
and a final decision will be made in the near future.
Beardy says he’ll be discussing the matter with his Chiefs before
deciding whether or not to close the crumbling building.
