A report on Winnipeg radio station CJOB says a 29-year-old Fort Frances man with ties to the city has been arrested in a police sting operation surrounding smuggled guns from the U-S.
The station says the documents indicate undercover R-C-M-P officers met with the suspect three times to buy guns the man allegedly said he could smuggle into Canada by snowmobile.
Two meetings took place last year in Winnipeg and the third happened Tuesday at a Grand Forks, North Dakota hotel, where the suspect allegedly accepted a 24-thousand-dollar payment.
Shawn James Hartnell was taken into custody the same day, but there is no word on charges.
