Report Indicates Government Is Lagging In Aboriginal Child Care

A new report is singling out the federal and provincial government for failing to live-up to their commitment to ensure First Nations children receive equitable access to public services as other children in Canada.
The Canadian Pediatric Society, the Assembly of First Nations, UNICEF Canada, and researchers from McGill University, the University of Manitoba and the University of Michigan co-authored the report.
It points to “bureaucratic confusion” and red tape that’s preventing many aboriginal children from accessing care and support quickly and efficiently.
