The Health Council of Canada released a report today regarding health services for Aboriginals.
It highlights some of the reasons why many aboriginal people are not seeking care in urban centers, due to stereotyping and racism.
CEO John Abbott says that the report includes areas where improvements can and are being made such as on the front lines of hospital care, emergency room, the advent of patient navigators and sensitivity training.
Abott says it will take the healthcare leadership such as ministers and CEOs to make sure the message is consistent.
