The City of Kenora has given its permission to Rescue
North to operate an animal shelter in Keewatin.
Council agreed to grant a business licence for the
kennel as long as tthe shelter is soundproofed and
enclosed.
Building Owner Stan Phinney says the volunteer group
plans to take notes from Winnipeg’s SPCA shelter.

The Winnipeg shelter is also in a residential
neighbourhood.
Phinney hopes to start construction on the facility as
soon as possible, and have all of the work completed by
the end of the Summer.
