The provincial government is extending funding for the region’s agricultural research farm.
The facility located on Highway 61 grows and tests food and also monitors fertilizer practices.
Thunder Bay Atikokan MPP Bill Mauro says the farm’s current agreement with their funding provider the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund was set to expire March 31st and has since been extended for another nine months.
The new deal will expire December 31st, 2015 and will allow the research farm time to use unspent funds and conduct a long-range feasibility study.
