Resolute Says Right Now It’s Business As Usual With No Softwood Deal

Forest companies are now adjusting with the absence of the softwood lumber agreement.

The deal has expired and the industry is now trying to work with both levels of government on a new deal.

Resolute Forest Products says it’s not impacted right now, but is concerned about the future.

Company Spokesperson Seth Kursman says for now there’s unfettered free trade in lumber between our countries.

Kursman stresses any new agreement must have a free trade “exit ramp” for province’s that have implemented market based reforms.
