There’s no indication from Natural Resources Minister Bill Mauro when he’ll make a final decision on whether to reinstate the spring bear hunt in northern Ontario.
Mauro says he still needs to look at the data from the final year of the two year pilot project and hopes to have a decision as quickly as possible.
Mauro says if the year two results don’t come back in a reasonable length of time he’ll use the data from year one.
He can’t say how quick it will be before a final decision is made.
Several groups in the province are urging the government to reinstate the spring hunt.
