A Restricted Fire Zone has been lifted across Northwestern Ontario,
however the Ministry of Natural Resources urges everyone to be careful with
their campfires.
41,000 lightning strikes were reported Sunday evening and new
starts could pose a problem for crews at any time.
Information Officer Mitch Miller stresses they are stretched to the
limit and don’t need to deal with human-caused fires.
The MNR says if you light a campfire, keep it small, don’t leave it
unattended and ensure it’s completely out before leaving.
Miller says crews are dealing with 53-active fires with a majority of
them in Northwestern Ontario.
Restricted Fire Zone Now Lifted
