Rick Hansen Relay a Success

The cold weather didn’t stop hundreds of Wabigoon and Dryden residents from supporting the Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay Thursday.
Mark Wherrett was the final medal bearer selected by the City of Dryden and he says he was proud to carry the medal into the Dryden Centre.
Wherrett says he met Hansen 25 years ago and notes he also played wheelchair Basketball against him and Terry Fox.
Thursday was day number 142 of the Cross-Canada Tour.
Jamie Lovechuck is the Director of the Relay Team says the local turn-out was fantastic.
He says the Relay is all about celebrating achievement and where we have come in 25-years.
Lovechuck says it’s all about the 7,000 Canadians selected who are making a difference in their communities.
The Relay resumes today (Friday) with the school tour.
