Rick Olynik

It is with deep sadness that the family of Richard Olynik age 49, announce his passing at Thunder Bay Regional Health Centre on August 11, 2013. Richard was born October 19, 1963.

Rick was born in Kenora but soon moved to Dryden where he made this area his home all of his life. Rick enjoyed the outdoors and would normally be seen driving around in his Black Dodge Truck talking and telling jokes to his friends. Rick’s family was the most important thing in his life. Rick thought the world of his nieces Cassandra and Latesha and always made sure that they knew that. He was always found at his sister’s house visiting family, enjoying movies and having great food. Rick enjoyed the holidays because it mean’t more family gatherings with lots of laughs. Rick worked at Domtar for over twenty years where he was always playing jokes and was the comedian to make co-workers laugh. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Rick was predeceased by his father Tony Olynik on January 1, 2010, his sister Christine Burns on March 28, 2009 and his step-father Bob Swanton on December 1, 2010. Richard will be missed and remembered by his mother Jean Swanton of Thunder Bay, his sister Kathy (Ben) Parenteau, his nieces Cassandra and Latesha Parenteau and Ashley Burns. Many other aunts, uncles and cousins survive.

There will be no Visitation as cremation has taken place.

A “Friends and family gathering” to celebrate Richards’ life on Saturday, August 17th at 1:00pm at the Dryden Community Funeral Home where friends and family can come and share stories.

In lieu of flowers, if desired, memoriam donations may be made to The Children’s Wish Foundation through the Dryden Community Funeral Home 249 Grand Trunk Ave. Dryden, ON P8N 2X3.
