Rick Perkins

Rick was born in Dryden on January 5, 1954 to Gwen and Lawrence Perkins. Being raised in the Eagle River area, and having attended school there. Upon completing his schooling, he did some guiding, as well as minnow fishing with his dad. Rick was employed in the forest industry, having worked for a number of forest companies. For a period of 25 years, he worked for what is now known as Weyerhaeser Company Ltd. In his leisure time, Rick enjoyed exploring different lakes and appreciating the outdoors. Being an avid fisherman, hunter, and trapper, he spent countless hours enjoying these activities as well. Gardening was an important past-time also, and he was proud to share his garden produce with family and friends. One might sat that Rick enjoyed life to the fullest, helping others when needed along the way. Family was important to him, and for those who knew him well, would know that he was a conservationist at heart. Rick is survived by his dear mother Gwen, sons Clint and James. Also sadly missed by sisters Lori Perkins, JoDee (Chris) Kamm, and brother Larry (Shannon) Perkins. Also surviving him are nieces and nephews, Becky and Brittany Kamm, Taylor (Christina) Perkins, Leah Perkins, John and Scott Schultz, as well as Elissa and Jason Schultz. He was redeceased by his father in 1982, and a brother in 1955. Rick passed away on February 24, 2003, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 28, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with Mr. John Mulders officiating. Interment of ashes at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Dryden Regional Health Center Equipment Fund through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON P8N 2X3.
