Natural Resources Minister Greg Rickford continues to promote the Keystone XL Pipeline project south of the border.
Rickford addressed the issue at a recent business roundtable in Washington, D.C.
He says a majority of Americans support the project.
Rickford is encourging the decision makers to take a look at the U.S. State Department’s own report.
He says the project is environmentally sound and pipelines reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Rickford says the U.S. State Department has said one barrel of Canadian oil, is superior to one barrel of Venezuelan oil from an environmental, cost and reliability perspective.
He adds the project is safer than transporting oil by rail.
