Rickford Says Feds Reviewing Firearm Decision

Kenora MP Greg Rickford says he’s troubled with a decision to ban a recreational rifle that is commonly used in northwestern Ontario.
The RCMP has reclassified the Swiss Arms SG550 and SG551 as prohibited.
Rickford calls it an unacceptable classification.
Rickford says the RCMP hasn’t announced what gun owners should do with the rifles after purchasing them in good faith.
He stresses the Minister of Public Safety has ordered an immediate review of the decision.
The Minister of State is confident that a specific policy will be drafted in the very near future.
Rickford says the government is working to ensure that impacted firearm owners won’t be punished.
