Ring Of Fire Discussion At Queen’s Park

NDP Northern Development and Mines critic Michael Mantha believes Premier Kathleen Wynne is up to her “old tricks” and ignoring the truth concerning the Ring of Fire mining development. Mantha says there was no money for the project in the recent budget and no shovels in the ground. He adds the Premier is all talk and no action and people can’t trust what she says anymore. In the Legislature, Wynne fired back saying the government is still committing $1-billion. Wynne says the government is working with the Matawa First Nation to ensure the project is done right. She adds the Liberals are determined that this mining development will be done in conjunction with First Nations. Wynne stated history shows that they need final agreements and partnerships in place with area First Nations before moving forward. She adds ensuring the project is done right is a major step in Truth and Reconciliation efforts.
