The nigerian mail scam has gone hi tech & is now running in the cyber
world as well.
be on the lookout for an on-line scam.
dryden police say a man claiming to be working in nigeria scammed a local resident while chatting online.
after some time, he convinced the eventual victim he could not cash a work cheque & asked if he could have the money deposited in his victim’s account, in return for a wire transfer back to him.
police say by the time the bank determined its a bogus cheque the Dryden resident was out of a substantial amount of money.
the city will be hosting an internet safety seminar next tuesday night at the anglican church to discuss similar scams and how to prevent them.
Ripped off!
