Building schools in Guatemala and providing them with the tools needed to succeed.
That’s what the “Ripple Effect” program is doing.
Director John Berringer addressed Dryden Rotary members on Wednesday.
Berringer says the initiative came about after a man from Winnipeg traveled to the Central American country for flowers.
He came into a poor village and discovered the area was too poor to build a school.
Berringer says that man returned to Canada and asked if Rotary would help him improve education infrastructure in the village.
Berringer also says they have partnerships that provide computers for schools as well.
He notes they have been able to secure roughly 340-computers for students.
