Road Work Set To Begin In Sioux Lookout

The Wellington Street North Corridor project is scheduled to begin Monday in Sioux Lookout.

That means traffic detours will be in place until the upgrades are completed in late August or September.

Manager of Corporate Services Brian MacKinnon says they are replacing some watermains and upgrading their storm sewer system as well as conducting road work.

MacKinnon says they are also improving bike lanes.

He is thanking the public for their patience over the next couple of months.

Here is more information on detours:

Northbound traffic on Highway 72, with the intention of accessing downtown Sioux Lookout via Wellington Street, will be detoured at the Ed Ariano By-pass (Hwy 72) and directed to downtown Sioux Lookout via Alcona Drive and King Street.
Wellington Street will be closed to through traffic at Fifth Avenue and access beyond Fifth Avenue will be available only for emergency services, local residents and businesses within the construction zone.
Wellington Street will also be closed to through traffic at Front Street and access to Wellington Street south of Front Street will be available only for emergency services, local residents and businesses within the construction zone.
