The Rainy River District has received just one-tenth of what it needs from the provincial government for land ambulance funding.
The Ontario Ministry of Health has announced 52-thousand dollars for the district but more than 530-thousand dollars was requested.
Health Services Manager Dan McCormick notes with the small amount received, the best the social services board can do is to buy half an ambulance.
Since the province downloaded land ambulance responsibilities to the district in 2001, municipalities have been footing 70 percent of the bill even though the original agreement called for a 50-50 cost share.
