Rubicon Suspending Operations In Red Lake

A huge blow to the community of Red Lake.

Rubicon Minerals has announced it has temporarily suspended underground activities at the Phoenix Gold mine site.

In a media release, the company states the gold mineralization is more geologically complex than they anticipated.

The release goes on to say they want to take some time to develop a new plan.

Interim President Michael Winship says they still believe in the potential of the project.

No one from Rubicon has been available for comment.

Various reports to the CKDR Newsroom indicate the announcement will impact roughly 330-workers.

That hasn’t been confirmed.
