Sacred Fire In Eagle Lake First Nation

Honouring those who took part in the Shale gas protests in Rexton, New Brunswick.
Eagle Lake First Nation’s Maegan Gardner says they are holding a ceremony tonight in the community.
A sacred fire will start burning at 6 o’clock at 1220 Ojibway Drive, and will go all night.
Gardner tells CKDR News that the Idle No More Movement is calling for sacred fires across the country, as a way to show that people and First Nations want their environment and drinking water protected.

A peaceful protest over land use for gas exploration in the Rexton area turned violent Thursday, leading to the arrests of 40-people.
