Safe Communities Dryden is supporting a call to make bicycle helmets mandatory for all ages.
The recommendation comes from Ontario’s chief coroner.
Four provinces in Canada already have all-ages bike helmet legislation and Ontario is being urged to follow suit.
Jessica Kivell says a properly fitted bike helmet decreases the risk of a serious head injury by as much as 85%.
Kivell adds that polls indicate that 83% of Ontarians support the recommendation.
Kivell says Safe Communities is also seeking public input on a possible City by-law requiring bicycle helmets.
A survey is available by visiting the CKDR main page and clicking the sasquatch link.
