Safeway Update in Thunder Bay

Canada Safeway will not take part in a store closure program that would help ex-employees in Thunder Bay get training and find new jobs.
The grocery store operator has flat-out refused a request by the United Food and COmmercial Workers to help former employees get trained for new work.
The ex-employees will still get some help from the provincial and federal governments.
About 85 members recently completed computer training courses at the Lakehead Labour Centre.
The union will also set up a training committee.
